On 2 February 2025, Chaand Nagar Theatre proudly presented its original play Crimson on Cotton at the Women of the World (WOW) Festival in Lahore, in collaboration with UNFPA and WOW Pakistan. Written by Imran Iftikhar and Rabia Pasha, and performed by Imran Iftikhar, Rabia Pasha, and Amna Mawaz, the play stood as a symbolic and stirring representation of the ongoing tussle between women and patriarchy in our society.
Crimson on Cotton used the power of performance to highlight the struggles and resilience of women, inviting audiences to reflect on questions of power, silence, and resistance.
WOW – Women of the World is a global movement founded by Jude Kelly in 2010 at London’s Southbank Centre. Celebrating women and girls while addressing the obstacles they face, WOW has reached millions across the world. In Pakistan, WOW is co-curated by the Entrepreneurship and Community Development Institute (ECDI Pakistan) and Olomopolo Media, in partnership with the British Council, with a vision to create inclusive and empowering spaces that push the boundaries of gender conventions.
